Error code RQ214

You’ll see the following error message in the H&R Block’s 2022 tax software if, while completing your return, you:

  • indicated you weren’t a resident of Canada throughout 2022
  • entered either the date you arrived in Canada or the date you left
  • reported income that you earned before or after you were a Canadian resident or
  • confirmed that you didn’t earn any income when you weren’t a Canadian resident

You can't file your Québec return online using NetFile Québec because of one of these reasons: • you weren’t a resident of Canada throughout 2022 • you entered the date you arrived in Canada or the date you left • you entered income you earned while you weren’t a Canadian resident • you confirmed you didn’t have any income while you weren’t a Canadian resident. Don't worry, you can still file it by mail. When you get to the File page, you can download and print all the forms you need to mail to the government. [error code: RQ214]

How do I fix this?

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to NETFILE your Québec return in this scenario; Revenu Québec requires that you file your return by mail. You can download and print a mail-in version of your return on the File tab. Click here to see where you need to mail your return and the documents you’ll need to enclose with it.
